Spectacular theatre performances leave audience spellbound as Mandi International Shivaratri Festival kicks off in style

MANDI: The spirit of culture and art flourished at the commencement of the International Mandi Shivaratri Festival as four captivating plays were performed on the stage. With a collective aim to elevate Mandi’s cultural prestige nationwide and internationally, local organisations delivered impactful presentations that left the audience spellbound.
The inaugural evening at the Cultural Auditorium in Motipur Kangni Dhar, Sanskritik Sadan, witnessed a stellar lineup of theatrical masterpieces. From the poignant rendition of “Meri Diary Ke Teen Panne” by Jagriti Kala Manch of Mandi to the gripping narrative of “Besahara Aurat” by Aakar Theatre Society, the stage came alive with the vibrancy of storytelling.
Noteworthy was the adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s timeless classic “The Bear,” skilfully directed by Deep Kumar. The play delicately explored themes of love and loss, drawing the audience into a world of emotional depth and introspection.
Under the expert guidance of renowned director Indraraj Indu, Navjyoti Kala Manch mesmerised spectators with their rendition of “Ek Tukda Satya”, a poignant tale of ambition and perseverance. Through stellar performances and compelling storytelling, the artistes captivated hearts and minds alike.
Each play was brought to life by a talented cast, whose dedication and artistry breathed life into every scene. From powerful soliloquies to intricate choreography, every aspect of the performances was meticulously crafted to perfection.
In the grand finale, “The Bear” took centrestage once again, leaving the audience awe-inspired with its poignant portrayal of human emotions and relationships. Seema Sharma’s impeccable portrayal of the lead character resonated deeply while Pooja Chakravarti’s melodious singing and Vinod Rai’s captivating choreography added an extra layer of depth to the production.
As curtain fell on the inaugural evening of the festival, it left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to witness the magic unfold onstage. The International Mandi Shivaratri Festival promises to be a celebration of culture, creativity and the enduring power of the performing arts.
