Himachal Pradesh’s popular hot water spring destination, Tattapani, could get a tourism boost with plans for a modern hot water bathing facility and a community building aimed at improving amenities for pilgrims and visitors.
Revenue, Horticulture, Tribal Development and Public Grievances Redressal Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Friday inspected the proposed sites for the two facilities at Tattapani, a religiously significant destination in Karsog associated with the sacred traditions of Rishi Jamdagni.
During the visit, the minister approved the proposed location for the modern hot water bathing facility and directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to prepare the drawings and cost estimates for the first phase within one month. He instructed officials to complete the necessary formalities at the earliest so that work could move forward and visitors could benefit from improved bathing facilities.
The community building will be taken up in the second phase, according to the proposed plan.
Focus on visitor amenities and destination development
Known for its hot water springs and religious significance, Tattapani attracts devotees who visit for ritual bathing. The proposed facility is expected to improve the bathing experience by providing more organised and modern amenities, strengthening the destination’s appeal for religious tourism.
The minister also directed officials to prioritise other public convenience works at Tattapani, including footpath construction and repairs to the police check post. Representatives of the Kol Dam management also expressed agreement on addressing the issues discussed during the inspection.
Improved access and basic infrastructure are important for making the destination more visitor-friendly, particularly during periods of increased pilgrim movement.
Silt in lake also reviewed
Negi also inspected the silt accumulated in the lake during a boat visit and assured people that efforts would be made to resolve the issue at the earliest.
The proposed bathing facility, community building and supporting infrastructure form part of efforts to improve facilities at Tattapani. Their timely implementation could help enhance visitor convenience and support tourism-related activity in the area.
Deputy Commissioner Mandi Apoorv Devgan briefed the minister on the proposed sites and the planned facilities.
SDM Karsog Alisha Chauhan, senior Congress leader Mahesh Raj, Kol Dam management officials, including DGM Anjala Agrawal, representatives of various departments, Tattapani gram panchayat pradhan Prem Raina and other officials were present during the inspection.
The immediate next step is the preparation of drawings and estimates within a month. The actual construction timeline and project cost will become clearer after the planning process is completed.
