To strengthen the drinking water system in Kangra Assembly constituency, old pipelines will be replaced at a cost of around ₹2 crore. This assurance was given by APMC Chairman and Himachal Congress OBC Department State President Nishu Mongra during a meeting with the newly elected Pradhan and ward members of Nanderul Panchayat at his office on Jamanabad Road, Ichhi.
Representatives of Nanderul Panchayat informed Mongra that decades-old pipelines were failing to meet the growing demand. They noted that while the Panchayat earlier had about 40 water connections, the number has now risen to nearly 400, leading to supply shortages.
Mongra assured that work to replace the old pipelines in Nanderul will begin within two months. He added that new pipelines will also be laid in Khuli, Kohala, Bhangwar, Ranitall, and Janyanakad to ensure regular and adequate water supply. He emphasized that the state government is prioritizing basic facilities in rural areas, with drinking water arrangements at the forefront.
Criticizing BJP leaders, Mongra said they made tall claims of 24-hour water supply in Kangra but failed to replace outdated pipelines during their tenure. “Had the pipelines been replaced in time, people would not be facing this problem today. At the very least, citizens should have been provided water twice daily,” he remarked.
Mongra praised Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, stating that the present government is accelerating development works across the state and is committed to resolving people’s basic issues with seriousness.
