The Department of B.Voc. (Hospitality & Tourism Management) at Government Arya College, Nurpur, in collaboration with EduBridge Learning Pvt. Ltd., organized a special guest lecture to provide students with practical guidance on career opportunities in the hospitality industry.
The keynote speaker was Yashwant Singh, General Manager of Hotel Best Western Plus, Jalandhar, who shared his extensive industry experience and offered valuable insights into building a successful career in hotels and tourism.
Singh emphasized the importance of leadership, team management, communication skills, guest satisfaction, professional grooming, and workplace discipline. He highlighted that beyond technical and practical knowledge, confidence, behavior, and effective guest interaction play a crucial role in achieving success in the hospitality sector.
Encouraging students to continuously upgrade themselves in line with evolving industry demands, Singh also discussed national and international career opportunities, along with the diverse roles available across hotel departments.
College Principal Dr. Anil Thakur noted that such direct interactions with industry experts help students move beyond classroom learning and gain exposure to real-world professional environments. He added that these lectures boost confidence and assist students in making informed career choices.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where students asked about career prospects, departmental opportunities, leadership expectations, and professional growth. Singh responded with practical suggestions and shared his personal experiences to inspire the participants.
