The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and dignity at the Government Arya Degree College campus, Nurpur, where a sub-division level Event was organized in a patriotic atmosphere. SDM Arun Sharma unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of an impressive march past presented by contingents of Police, NCC, NSS, Scouts & Guides, and Home Guards.
Extending Republic Day greetings to the gathering, SDM Arun Sharma said that January 26, 1950, is a historic day in Indian democracy, marking the implementation of the Constitution and the declaration of India as a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic.
He emphasized that the Constitution not only grants rights but also reminds citizens of their duties. Highlighting the contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, he said the Constitution remains a strong pillar of India’s unity and integrity. He urged the youth to imbibe constitutional values and actively contribute to nation-building.

Cultural Performances Steal the Show
Cultural programmes emerged as the main attraction of the ceremony. Students from various schools enthralled the audience with patriotic songs, Himachali Nati, Punjabi Gidda, and other performances based on national pride. The audience applauded the students’ vibrant and disciplined performances.
Participants Honoured
At the conclusion of the programme, SDM Arun Sharma honoured students who participated in the march past and cultural events by presenting certificates and mementos.
The event was attended by SP Kulbhushan Verma, DSP Chandrapal, Tehsildar Radhika Saini, SHO Surinder Dhiman, principals of various schools including Arvind Dogra, Sunita Sagar and KC Dayol, along with students, parents, and other dignitaries, making the celebration a memorable one for Nurpur.
