Students of Government ITI and Government Senior Secondary School Bharmour, along with members of local Mahila Mandals, carried out an awareness drive to educate shopkeepers about cleanliness and proper waste segregation. The programme was chaired by ADM Bharmour Vikas Sharma.
During the campaign, students explained the importance of separating waste into different categories:
- Dry Waste: Plastic covers, bottles, boxes, chips and toffee wrappers, plastic cups, milk/yogurt packets, rubber, thermocol, old clothes, wooden pieces, newspapers, stationery, paper cups, and plates — all to be disposed of in the blue dustbin.
- Wet Waste: Vegetable and fruit peels, cooked food, egg shells, chicken/fish bones, rotten fruits or vegetables, dirty tissues, tea leaves, coconut shells, flowers and garlands used in worship, and grass — to be placed in the green dustbin.
- Domestic Hazardous Waste: E-waste such as printers, ink cartridges, electronic parts, chemicals and empty chemical containers, paint, oil, thinner, thermometers, hair, and diapers — to be discarded in the red dustbin.
The initiative aimed to encourage local residents and shopkeepers to adopt responsible waste management practices and maintain cleanliness in the town.
