Chamba:
BJP Member of Parliament from Kangra constituency in Himachal Pradesh Rajiv Bhardwaj highlighted the benefits of the recent changes in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) structure during a press conference held at the Circuit House in Chamba, calling the reforms a “significant relief for the poor and middle class”.
Bhardwaj said the revised GST slabs, recently introduced by the central government, reflect Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to improving the lives of economically weaker sections. “This is a direct benefit to the common man, particularly those living in rural and remote regions,” he stated.
Essential goods now more affordable
Bhardwaj explained that GST rates on several essential items have been reduced, leading to a drop in prices and easing the burden on household budgets. “The cost of living will go down and inflationary pressure will reduce. This is a concrete step towards economic relief for everyday citizens,” he added.
He emphasised that this move is especially important for low-income groups, who are most affected by price fluctuations in daily-use goods. “These GST reforms are not just policy changes but a gift from the Prime Minister to the common people,” said Bhardwaj.
BJP leaders and local representatives present
The event was also attended by BJP district president Dheeraj Nariyal, Bharmaur MLA Dr Janak Raj and former SC-ST Morcha vice-president Jai Singh, along with several local party workers. The presence of key party figures underlined the importance of the policy announcement at the grassroots level.
The press conference aimed to disseminate accurate information about the GST revisions and ensure that the public is aware of the direct benefits coming their way. Bhardwaj concluded by reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to pro-poor governance and transparent economic policies.
