The quarterly meeting of the Chamba Zila Parishad was held today at Bachat Bhawan under the chairmanship of Zila Parishad President Rekha Thakur. Additional Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Parishad, Amit Mehra, was present as a special invitee.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on public welfare issues related to various departments. The income-expenditure report and the annual budget for the financial year 2026–27 were approved. Significantly, excluding Pangi block, self-approval was granted for nearly 54,000 development works worth ₹1,878 crore under the VBG-Ram Ji scheme across the district.
Additionally, development works funded through the 16th Finance Commission’s tied and untied grants were also approved. Rekha Thakur directed departmental officers to ensure timely completion of public welfare projects through mutual coordination, stressing that issues raised in Parishad meetings must be resolved on priority.
A total of 60 agenda items were discussed, covering electricity, drinking water, transport, education, roads, health, and tourism. On certain matters where satisfactory responses were not received, concerned departments were instructed to take necessary action and resolve issues promptly.
Parishad Secretary and District Panchayat Officer Mahesh Chand presented detailed reports on various agenda items. Parishad members also raised important public concerns and offered suggestions.
The meeting began with a two-minute silence in memory of late Parishad member Chandrabhooshan, who passed away recently. Discussions were also held on the upcoming Swachhata Hi Seva campaign scheduled from September 17 to October 2.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Liyaqat Ali Khan, Parishad members, Deputy Superintendent of Police Baldev Dutt, Divisional Forest Officer Kritagya Kumar, Chief Medical Officer Dr. J.S. Bhardwaj, Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Dr. Rakesh Bhangalia, Deputy Director Agriculture Dr. Bhupender Singh, Deputy Director Higher Education Vikas Mahajan, Block Development Officers Basheer Khan and Anil Gurada, along with officials from various departments.
