The Pensioners’ Welfare Association, Bharmour Unit, convened its monthly meeting on Tuesday at Chaurasi Hotel, under the chairmanship of Unit President Dheeraj Thakur. A large number of pensioner members attended and engaged in detailed discussions on welfare, social concerns, regional development, and public interest issues. Several important resolutions were passed, urging the government and administration to take necessary action.
Members emphasized that retired employees form a vital section of society, having served the nation through various departments during their careers. Ensuring their welfare, dignity, and facilities should be a primary responsibility of the government. The association stressed the need for early fulfillment of long-pending demands.
The meeting also highlighted the demand for issuing Senior Citizen Identity Cards, which would help elderly citizens access government schemes and services more easily. Members urged the administration to simplify and expedite this process.
Concerns were raised over rising inflation and the continuous increase in prices of essential commodities, which has become a serious challenge for pensioners dependent on fixed incomes. The association called for effective price control measures to provide relief to the public, especially senior citizens.
Agriculture and horticulture issues were also discussed, with members pointing out the difficulties faced by farmers and orchardists in tribal and remote areas like Bharmaur in marketing their produce. They demanded better arrangements for storage, transport, and marketing to ensure fair returns for farmers’ hard work.
The association further stressed the need to strengthen basic facilities such as healthcare, education, drinking water, roads, and communication in remote regions, where people still struggle for essential services.
Speakers underlined the important role of senior citizens in society, noting that their experience should benefit the community and younger generations. Pensioners were urged to actively participate in social activities.
In his concluding remarks, President Dheeraj Thakur thanked all members for their participation and assured that the association would continue its efforts to safeguard pensioners’ interests and resolve their issues. The resolutions passed during the meeting will be forwarded to the concerned departments and administration for prompt action.
Prominent office bearers present included Vice President Chain Singh Thakur, General Secretary Krishna Thakur, Treasurer M.R. Patial, Senior Vice President Jai Krishan, along with Bhagat Ram, Pyar Singh Chadak, Bakil Bhardwaj, and Jagdish Chand.
