A heartbreaking road accident occurred late last night on the Pathankot–Bharmour National Highway near Hanuman Temple, between Dunali and Ghaira, claiming the lives of two young pilgrims en route to the sacred Manimahesh Kailash Yatra.
🔹 The Incident
- The victims were riding a motorcycle (PB-35U-2347) when it suddenly went out of control and plunged nearly 200 meters into a deep gorge.
- Both riders died on the spot due to the severity of the crash.
🔹 Victims Identified
- Jyoti, resident of Pathankot
- Anil Kumar, son of Harbans, resident of Pangoli, Pathankot
🔹 Rescue Operation Upon receiving the alert, personnel from Ghaira Police Post and local villagers rushed to the site. After a strenuous rescue effort, the bodies were recovered from the gorge and sent to Medical College Chamba for postmortem.
🔹 Police Action Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The bodies will be handed over to the families after completion of legal formalities.
The tragic news has cast a pall of grief over the victims’ families and the local community, serving as a grim reminder of the risks faced by pilgrims traveling on the treacherous mountain routes of Himachal Pradesh.
