Nurpur Police has intensified its crackdown on illegal drug trafficking with two swift operations that led to the recovery of 18.78 grams of heroin (chitta) and the arrest of three individuals. Two motorcycles used in the crime were also seized.
🔹 First Case – Dumtal Police Station (10.62 grams heroin recovered) On 12 September 2026, CIA Nurpur was on patrol duty in Dumtal when a tip-off led them to the railway underbridge near Guru Ravidas Temple link road. In the presence of independent witnesses, a TVS Raider motorcycle (HP 97A 7694) was searched, yielding 10.62 grams of heroin hidden under the seat.
- Accused: Munish Kumar alias Mannu (26), son of Tilak Raj, resident of Bhadroya, Tehsil Indora, District Kangra.
- Legal Action: Case registered under NDPS Act Sections 21, 25 at Dumtal Police Station (FIR No. 145/2026).
🔹 Second Case – Nurpur Police Station (8.16 grams heroin recovered, 2 arrested) On the midnight of 13 September 2026, CIA Nurpur intercepted a Royal Enfield motorcycle near the old bus stand Jasur. A search revealed 8.16 grams of heroin concealed under the seat. Preliminary investigation suggests the contraband was sourced from outside the region.
- Accused: Rahul and one other individual.
- Legal Action: Case registered under NDPS Act Sections 21, 29 at Nurpur Police Station (FIR No. 232/2026).
🔹 Three Major Actions in 24 Hours These two seizures follow another major bust within the same 24-hour period, where a government bus driver was caught with 3.700 kg of poppy husk (chura post).
Nurpur Police reaffirmed its “Zero Tolerance” policy against narcotics, emphasizing its commitment to dismantling the entire supply chain and protecting youth from the devastating effects of drugs.
