The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi will hold its 14th Convocation on June 20, with industrialist and Welspun World Founder B.K. Goenka set to deliver the convocation address as the chief guest.
The ceremony will celebrate the academic achievements of 643 graduating students, including 321 undergraduate, 259 postgraduate and 63 doctoral scholars, and will mark a significant milestone for the institute, which continues to strengthen its position among India’s leading technology and research institutions.
A notable feature of this year’s convocation is that the graduating B.Tech cohort is the largest in the institute’s history, representing the biggest batch of engineering graduates produced by IIT Mandi since its inception.
The event will also be attended by Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, and Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi, as guests of honour. The ceremony will be presided over by Lt Gen (Retd.) Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, VSM, Chairman of the Board of Governors, IIT Mandi.
Degrees will be conferred upon students across undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, while medals and awards will be presented to recognise exceptional performance in academics, research, innovation and leadership.
Ahead of the convocation, IIT Mandi Director Prof. Laxmidhar Behera described the occasion as a defining moment for graduating students and an important milestone for the institute.
“Convocation is a proud moment that reflects years of hard work, perseverance and academic excellence. As our graduates step into the next phase of their professional and personal journeys, we are confident they will carry forward the values of innovation, integrity and social responsibility while making meaningful contributions to society,” he said.
Prof. Behera said the institute remains committed to creating an academic ecosystem that fosters interdisciplinary learning, research excellence, entrepreneurship and technological innovation.
“Our goal is to nurture graduates who are not only academically accomplished but are also equipped with the vision and capability to develop solutions for emerging global challenges,” he added.
Situated in the Himalayan region of Himachal Pradesh, IIT Mandi has emerged as a prominent centre for advanced research, innovation and technology-led entrepreneurship. The upcoming convocation is expected to bring together academia, industry and policymakers while underscoring the institute’s commitment to excellence in education, cutting-edge research and nation-building.
Beyond celebrating academic accomplishments, the ceremony will serve as a platform to inspire graduates to embrace the values of lifelong learning, leadership, innovation and public service as they embark on their future careers.
