On Himachal High Court orders, encroachments removed in Chamba

Chamba: In compliance with the directions of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, the Chamba district administration took swift action to remove illegal encroachments in various parts of the Bhattiyat sub-division.


The process was carried out using JCB machinery under the supervision of the Naib Tehsildar, Rahul Dhiman.


As part of an ongoing operation, the team, including the Public Works Department (PWD) machinery, began clearing encroachments in Kakkira Market on Saturday. The operation caused a stir among the illegal occupiers in the area.

Shops, houses demolished at various locations

Rahul Dhiman, Naib Tehsildar of Bhattiyat, explained that the action was taken following specific orders from the High Court.


“In compliance with the directions from the High Court, the administration has launched this operation,” Dhiman said. He said that one house in Nainikhad was demolished under Section 163 of the Himachal Pradesh Land Revenue Act, 1954.


Additionally, three shops in Kakkira Market were demolished as per the Himachal Pradesh Public Premises and Land (Eviction and Rent Recovery) Act of 1971.

10 illegal encroachments cleared
The encroachment removal process has so far been successful in various locations across the Bhattiyat sub-division. To date, a total of 10 illegal encroachments have been cleared from areas such as Mulunda village, Singhunta, Denetha, Sarog, Simhta, Samot, Kakkira Market, and Nainikhad.


Naib Tehsildar Rahul Dhiman confirmed that the operation would continue in the coming days. “This process will be carried out systematically, and more encroachments will be cleared as we move forward,” he assured.
