The Dalhousie branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad organised a vibrant cultural and educational event today at Dalhousie Public School, featuring the branch-level National Group Song Competition and the “Bharat Ko Jano” Quiz Contest.
The event was graced by SDM Dalhousie Anil Bhardwaj as the Chief Guest, with Dr. (Capt.) G.S. Dhillon, President of Dalhousie Public School, presiding over the function. Ajay Sehgal, Defence Estate Officer, attended as the Special Guest.
In his address, Chief Guest Anil Bhardwaj lauded Bharat Vikas Parishad’s efforts in nurturing values and a spirit of service among the youth. He emphasized that such competitions not only instill patriotism but also enhance students’ understanding of Hindi and Sanskrit.
A total of five schools participated in the National Group Song Competition. Dalhousie Public School secured first place, followed by PM Shri Netaji Senior Secondary Government School in second, and Hill Top School, Dalhousie in third.
The “Bharat Ko Jano” Quiz also saw participation from five schools. In the junior category, Sacred Heart School clinched first place, Dalhousie Public School came second, and Cantonment Board School stood third. In the senior category, Guru Nanak Public School emerged victorious, with Dalhousie Public School and Hill Top School taking second and third places respectively.
Dr. (Capt.) G.S. Dhillon, who is also a member of Bharat Vikas Parishad’s National Governing Body, highlighted the organization’s mission to foster national pride, cultural awareness, and historical knowledge among children.
The event concluded with the felicitation of the winners by the Chief Guest and Special Guest. Notable attendees included former State President of Bharat Vikas Parishad Vinod Mahajan, Hill Top School President Sudhir Dhawan, Guru Nanak Public School Principal Navdeep Bhandari, and community members Baldev Khosla, Rajendra Rai, Chatarsen, and Vikram Jaryal. The local branch was represented by President Johar Singh, Secretary Manish Palah, and Treasurer Rajeshwar Behl, along with a large gathering of enthusiastic attendees.
