In a shocking incident during the ongoing Manali Winter Carnival, a youth named Daksh was murdered, leading to a swift police response.
The police have arrested the accused and are currently interrogating him to ascertain the motive behind the crime. Daksh’s body has been sent for post-mortem and the exact cause of death will be confirmed once the report is received.
Kullu Superintendent of Police Gokul Chandra Karthikeyan stated that the incident occurred late at night at Manu Rangshala, where an argument broke out between two youth.
During the altercation, the accused attacked Daksh’s neck with a glass bottle, resulting in his death. The police launched an immediate search operation and arrested the accused within a short period.
Interrogation is underway to determine the reasons behind the attack, but as of now the motive remains unclear.
The tragic incident took place behind Manu Rangshala on Wednesday during the cultural festivities, which were attended by thousands of people.
Witnesses reported that an argument escalated between Daksh and the accused, culminating in the fatal attack. The news of the murder caused panic among the attendees, leading to chaos at the venue.
The Kullu SP assured that the police are thoroughly investigating the case. If any other individuals are found to be involved, appropriate action will be taken against them.
He emphasised that security arrangements for the Winter Carnival are robust and the police acted promptly in arresting the suspect.
Due to the unfortunate incident, the grand ‘Maha Naati’ dance performance by the women of right bank, scheduled for Thursday on Mall Road, has been postponed to Friday.
Additionally, all cultural events were temporarily suspended until Thursday afternoon as a mark of respect and to ensure safety.
The incident has cast a shadow over the otherwise vibrant Winter Carnival, raising concerns about security measures at such large public gatherings.
