In a decisive move against the illegal narcotics trade, the CIA Team of Police District Nurpur achieved a major breakthrough by recovering 1.345 kilograms of charas from a car near Harad Bridge. Two accused have been taken into custody.
Details of the Accused
- Ashwani Kumar (38), son of Shri Prakash Chand, resident of Village & Post Office Bhali, Tehsil & Police Station Jawali, District Kangra (Himachal Pradesh).
- Sunil Rana alias Ishu (29), son of Shri Jagroop Singh, resident of Village & Post Office Sahwan, Tehsil & Police Station Shahpur, District Kangra (Himachal Pradesh).
Incident & Recovery
Acting on a tip-off, the CIA team set up a naka near Harad Bridge. During the operation, a suspicious Alto car (registration number HP40A-7048) was searched in the presence of independent witnesses. From beneath the driver’s seat, police recovered a black plastic packet containing 1.345 kg of charas.
The narcotics and the vehicle used in trafficking were seized immediately, and both accused were arrested. A case has been registered at Police Station Nurpur under Sections 20 & 29 of the NDPS Act. Police have launched further investigation to trace the main sources and wider network linked to this illegal trade.

Nurpur Police urges the public to actively support efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs. Citizens are requested to promptly report any suspicious activities or information related to narcotics to the police without hesitation.
