Heavy rainfall in Churah subdivision has caused the Kangela Nala on the Nakrod–Chanju route to swell dangerously, posing severe risks to daily commuters.
The bridge over the nala, damaged during last year’s cloudburst, has yet to be repaired. No temporary bridge or alternative route has been provided, forcing residents of Bagheigarh, Chanju, Charada, and Dehra panchayats to cross the fast-flowing stream on foot.
The situation is most alarming for schoolchildren, who are compelled to wade through the strong currents to attend classes. Women and elderly villagers also face life-threatening challenges, while many parents have stopped sending their children to school out of fear for their safety.
Local residents have appealed to the administration and concerned departments to immediately construct a temporary bridge and begin reconstruction of the damaged structure without delay. They stressed that timely action is essential to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of the entire community during the monsoon season.
