Himachal Pradesh Congress president Pratibha Singh has expressed her gratitude to the party workers, stating that their unwavering support was instrumental in forming the government. She acknowledged the efforts of senior national leaders such as Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others in strengthening the government.
Pratibha criticised the BJP for spreading misinformation among the public, urging people not to fall for such tactics. Referring to the opposition rallies being conducted by the BJP, she said these were nothing but a “sign of frustration”.
Pratibha recounted her efforts during the natural disaster in Himachal Pradesh. She mentioned that while she approached all Himachal MPs to join her in requesting relief from the Prime Minister, none accompanied her. She eventually met the Prime Minister alone, but even then no significant assistance was provided. This, she noted, had left the people of Himachal Pradesh disappointed. However, the state government, using its own resources, provided financial aid to the affected citizens and stood firmly by them during the crisis.
Lauds Sukhu govt’s efforts during disaster
She highlighted the government’s independent efforts in rebuilding after the disaster and remembered the contributions of leaders like YS Parmar and Virbhadra Singh in making Himachal Pradesh a model state. She also thanked Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and all members of the government for their dedication in overcoming the debt-laden situation inherited from the BJP.
Pratibha also took the opportunity to commend the party workers, officials and volunteers who supported the government during the calamity.
Tense exchange with Bumber Thakur
As Himachal Congress president Pratibha was speaking, Bilaspur Congress leader Bumber Thakur interrupted, asking her to conclude. This prompted a sharp response from Pratibha, saying, “I am about to finish, please wait. If you don’t want me to speak, I will stop immediately.” Clearly annoyed, she continued for two more minutes before concluding her speech. She later rebuked Bumber, saying, “This is not the way to speak. I know exactly how much and when to speak.”
