In a significant success against online cybercrime, Nurpur Police have arrested another accused involved in an interstate cyber fraud racket spanning Bihar and Gujarat.
The case dates back to January 18, 2024, when complainant Mrs. Shimla Devi, a resident of Nurpur, Kangra district, reported that unidentified cyber criminals duped her of ₹3,20,000 via Google Pay through a fraudulent phone call.
Taking swift action under FIR No. 21/2024, Section 420 IPC, Superintendent of Police, Nurpur, formed a special team led by the in-charge of Saduan Police Post along with the Cyber Cell. The team conducted technical analysis, digital tracking, and financial transaction tracing across multiple states.
Earlier, accused Mahabir Kumar had been arrested in connection with the case. During further investigation, the involvement of Noor Alam, resident of South Telua, Nautan, West Champaran district, Bihar, was established. Based on digital evidence, Noor Alam has now been arrested as well.
Police confirmed that the investigation into other possible links and aspects of the fraud network is ongoing.
