Himachal Assembly budget session likely from February 14-29; MLAs told to share priority list at meeting next week

SHIMLA: Preparations are underway to hold the budget session of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly in the middle of February.According to sources, the government can hold the budget session of the Assembly from February 14 to February 29.

The government has started preparations for this. All the departments are busy making proposed plans for the budget session following instructions from the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government to do the needful.

The Finance Department is busy preparing the budget estimates. For this, meetings of various departments have been organised, while before the budget session, Chief Minister Sukhu will also hold meetings regarding MLA priorities.

Meetings have also been scheduled at the Shimla Secretariat on January 29 and 30 to determine the priorities of the MLAs. In these meetings, discussions will be held to determine MLA priorities for the budget of 2024-25. Suggestions will also be sought from the MLAs regarding raising financial resources for the year 2024-25.

This will be the second budget of the Congress government and in the previous budget, Chief Minister Sukhu had announced to make Himachal a green state and provide self-employment to the youth by giving subsidy for setting up electric vehicles and solar projects. ‘Sukhashraya’ scheme for the destitute was also implemented in this budget.

Now the Sukhu government will present its second budget and the budget session is being held before the Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, the state government can also take steps to fulfill its poll guarantees and make announcements about many big schemes.
