Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Prof. Chander Kumar honored newly elected representatives of all panchayats in the Jawali Assembly constituency at a felicitation ceremony held at Shiv Shankar Palace, Lab Bhanei. Ward members, vice-pradhans, pradhans, BDC members, and Zila Parishad members were presented with shawls and caps as a mark of respect.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Kumar emphasized that the people have entrusted their representatives with the responsibility of public service. He urged them to rise above politics and work with honesty, impartiality, and dedication to accelerate development in their respective panchayats. He stressed that every representative must involve all sections of society in the development process.
The minister called upon the leaders to take a firm stand against illegal drug trade, warning that narcotics pose a grave threat to society and the future of youth. He encouraged representatives to cooperate actively with the administration and police in combating this menace.
Prof. Kumar directed the Block Development Officer to prepare a detailed report on the unutilized funds available in all panchayats of the constituency. He stated that existing funds must be used effectively before seeking new allocations. He also urged pradhans to exercise their powers responsibly, ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.
Highlighting the importance of strong panchayat institutions, he said that rural development can gain momentum only through empowered local bodies. Extending his best wishes to the newly elected representatives, he expressed confidence that they would fulfill public expectations with sincerity.
On the occasion, selected farmers were also provided with spray pumps. Prof. Kumar encouraged them to benefit from government schemes and adopt modern agricultural techniques.
The event was attended by SDM Narendra Jaryal, BDO Manoj Sharma, Municipal Vice President A.V. Pathania, Block Congress President Chain Singh Guleria, Congress spokesperson Sansar Singh Sansari, leaders Manmohan Singh, Ashwani Chaudhary, Surinder Chinda, along with a large number of newly elected representatives and local residents.
