The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Chamba’s historic Chaugan ground, where Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri unfurled the national flag and took the salute at the grand march-past.

A total of 17 contingents participated in the parade, including District Police, Forest Department, Home Guards, NCC, SPOs, NSS, Bharat Scouts & Guides, Anganwadi workers, Nursing College, DIITHM Institute of Hotel Management, and NFCI. The impressive parade was led by Lady Police Inspector Pankaj.

Students from various educational institutions presented captivating cultural performances, adding colour and vibrancy to the occasion. The Deputy Chief Minister also honoured departmental officers, employees, institutions, and social workers with commendation certificates for their outstanding contributions.

The ceremony was graced by MLA Neeraj Nayyir, former minister Asha Kumari, Thakur Singh Bharmauri, former MLA Surender Bhardwaj, Surjit Bharmauri (President, District Congress Committee), Amit Bharmauri (General Secretary, State Congress Committee), Sunabh Singh Pathania (President, Youth Congress Committee), Bhuwaneshwari Gulati (Chairperson, Municipal Council), Rekha Kumari (Chairperson, Zila Parishad), DC Mukesh Repswal, SP Vijay Saklani, former military officers, and a large gathering of dignitaries and citizens.

The celebrations concluded with a spirit of patriotism and pride, reinforcing the values of unity, responsibility, and dedication towards the nation.
