Dharamshala. The tragic loss of Akshay Koda, the only son of a grieving family in the Narghota road accident, has turned into more than just a plea for justice—it has become a defining test for Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

Known for his sensitive approach and ‘human touch’ in politics, CM Sukhu has built a reputation through initiatives like the Sukh Ashray Yojana, aimed at supporting the destitute and vulnerable. Now, the public is watching closely to see whether his government will go beyond condolences and investigations to ensure accountability and concrete action in this heartbreaking case.

On Saturday morning at Circuit House Dharamshala, the bereaved family met the Chief Minister, alleging that the road had remained damaged for nearly two years despite repeated complaints. They claimed that no effective warning boards or safety measures were put in place, and insisted that timely repairs could have saved their son’s life.

The Chief Minister assured the family that the government stands with them and directed the administration to conduct a serious inquiry. However, expectations now extend beyond sympathy—people want decisive measures against those responsible.

Locals also expressed anger, pointing out that the PWD department installed warning boards and stones only after the accident, a move seen as a mere formality. Had these precautions been taken earlier, the tragedy might have been avoided.

This case is no longer just about a road accident—it is about government accountability, administrative responsibility, and the test of CM Sukhu’s humane image. In the days ahead, the real question will be whether the family receives only assurances or genuine justice backed by firm action.
