A district-level meeting of the Public Grievance Redressal Committee was convened at the Savings Bhawan auditorium in Chamba under the chairmanship of Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania.
The meeting saw participation from MLAs of various constituencies, senior administrative and departmental officials, along with government and non-government members of the committee. Issues raised largely pertained to the Public Works, Jal Shakti, Power, Transport, Education, and Health departments, while matters related to Agriculture, Revenue, Forest, Social Justice, Food & Civil Supplies, and Rural Development were also discussed.
During the session, follow-up actions taken on issues raised in previous meetings were reviewed, and items resolved to the satisfaction of members were formally closed.
In his concluding address, Speaker Pathania praised the efforts of officials in addressing public grievances within stipulated timelines. He emphasized that the committee plays a vital role in ensuring justice and development for people in rural and remote areas through coordination between administration, departments, and committee members. He directed the district administration to keep members informed about decisions taken during the meeting and stressed that such meetings must be held every three months.
Highlighting achievements, Pathania noted that 100% of grievances raised over the past three years have been resolved. He instructed the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to identify additional bus routes to improve connectivity in remote areas and asked the Regional Transport Officer to finalize the timetable for local buses between the new and old bus stands within two days to avoid inconvenience to commuters.
Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal expressed gratitude to the Speaker for his guidance and assured full compliance with the directions issued. He also honored the Speaker with a traditional shawl, cap, and Chamba Thal.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Neeraj Nair (Chamba), Dr. Janak Raj (Bharmaur), D.S. Thakur (Dalhousie), APMC Chairman Lalit Thakur, District Congress Committee President Surjit Bharmauri, senior Congress leader Kamal Thakur, along with senior administrative and departmental officials including SP Vijay Saklani, ADC Amit Mehra, SDMs of Chamba, Salooni, Tissa, and Bhatiyat, and heads of various departments.
