This morning, a bus traveling from Sural to Shimla narrowly avoided a major accident. The bus, which had departed from Pangi’s main headquarters in Killar, was just a kilometer away from Rohili when it almost plunged into a deep gorge. Thanks to the driver’s vigilance and quick thinking, the lives of 15 to 20 passengers were saved.
Eyewitness Ramesh Kumar reported that the incident was caused by a road collapse along the edge of the gorge. As the bus’s tires began to sink, the vehicle was on the verge of falling into the ravine. Acting swiftly, the driver evacuated all passengers before managing to maneuver the bus to safety with great difficulty.

This incident highlights a harsh reality—the deplorable condition of our roads and the alarming neglect of road safety measures. Unfortunately, such incidents are not isolated. Accidents occur regularly, sometimes leading to loss of lives and property. The lack of timely and proper road maintenance remains a major concern. The deteriorating roads, frequent landslides, and absence of preventive measures have made road travel increasingly dangerous in many regions.
Urgent action is needed to address infrastructure challenges and prioritize road safety to prevent future tragedies.
