During his Bharmour visit, Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur was welcomed with a traditional shawl and cap by Krishna Pakhretia, President of the School Lecturer Association, Bharmour Block. On the occasion, the association presented a detailed memorandum of demands.

The foremost demand was the regularization of all SMC-appointed teachers and lecturers in one go, noting that most of them are highly qualified and TET-pass, and should be recognized under the CBSE cadre. The association also urged that promotion to principal posts be based on numerical strength, and that all lecturer categories be unified under a single designation – “Lecturer” – following the principle of one work, one name.

Other key demands included:

  • 25% quota for school lecturers in promotions to Assistant Professor posts in the college cadre.
  • Revision of initial salary for lecturers to ₹47,000, in line with the Punjab pattern, instead of the current ₹43,000.
  • Release of pending DA from July 2023 under the Sixth Pay Commission.

Association leaders emphasized that these measures would strengthen the teaching cadre and ensure fairness in career progression.

Several dignitaries were present at the event, including Himachal Government Teachers’ Association President Vijay Sharma, Principals Jagpal Chauhan, Rewal Jaryal, Mohindar Thakur, and Primary Teachers’ Association President Ramesh Sharma.
