Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta reviews police reforms; lauds Himachal police for transparency, public service

Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta on Thursday (October 9, 2025) visited the police headquarters and the State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) to review ongoing police reforms and modernisation initiatives.


Welcoming the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Tewari outlined the department’s key challenges, including tough terrain, limited resources and rising threats such as cybercrime and drug trafficking. He also detailed the force’s zero tolerance policy on narcotics, corruption and traffic violations, emphasising the use of technology-driven enforcement and community-based policing to enhance efficiency and trust.

At the Vigilance Headquarters, Sanjay Gupta reviewed measures adopted to strengthen transparency, accountability and time-bound investigations. Officials briefed him on new proposals to streamline administrative approvals and expand data-led vigilance systems for faster and more objective monitoring.


Commending the efforts of the police and vigilance teams, the Chief Secretary praised their dedication to citizen-centric, transparent and technology-enabled policing. He assured that the state government would extend full support for augmenting human resources, infrastructure and professional training, with the aim of making Himachal Pradesh a model of efficient and people-friendly policing.
