A private bus bringing back devotees from Punjab after a ‘satsang’ (religious gathering) on the occasion of Guru Purnima met with an accident as it fell into a gorge near Namhol in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh.
According to initial reports, 26 passengers sustained injuries in the accident, which occurred in the wee hours. Most of the injured hail from the Darlaghat area of Solan district. The bus was carrying a total of 36 passengers at the time of the accident.
Local residents were quick to respond to the emergency and helped rescue the injured from the wreckage. The injured were then transported to AIIMS-Bilaspur and other nearby healthcare facilities for treatment. The cause of the accident remains unclear. A police team from Barmana has initiated an investigation into the matter.
