MANDI: In a significant step towards promoting holistic health in rural areas, Rotary Club Chhoti Kashi-Mandi, in collaboration with the Department of Ayurveda, organised a one-day free Ayurvedic medical camp in the Durgapur region of Balh subdivision, located near the revered pilgrimage site of Rewalsar.
Held at the local Ayurvedic Health Centre, the camp witnessed an enthusiastic response from the local community, with more than 70 residents availing themselves of the free health check-ups and consultations. The initiative aimed to provide accessible healthcare services directly at the doorstep of rural citizens.

Key medical services and therapies offered
Patients received general health examinations along with free Ayurvedic medicines. Marma therapy and cupping therapy were among the highlights of the camp, offering immediate relief to many.
On-site diagnostic tests for blood pressure and blood sugar were also conducted as part of the preventive care approach.
A team of Ayurvedic professionals, including Dr Hemlata, Dr Arshia Mahajan, Dr GP Singh, APO Bhup Singh and medical assistant Durga, provided expert services. Traditional diagnostic techniques such as ‘Nadi Pariksha’ (pulse examination) were employed, ensuring an authentic Ayurvedic approach to diagnosis and care.

Emphasis on yoga and holistic wellness
The camp also featured a wellness session conducted by Rotary members and yoga trainers from the Ayurveda Department. Participants were educated on the benefits of regular yoga, meditation, and balanced living as key components of a healthy lifestyle.
Rotary Club Chhoti Kashi president Anupama Singh emphasised the club’s commitment to community health, stating, “We are dedicated to organizing such free health camps regularly to ensure that rural populations have access to quality healthcare and guidance.”
She said patients not only received immediate treatment but were also provided with proper follow-up directions.

Strong volunteer support from club members
The success of the camp was attributed to the dedicated efforts of Rotary Club members, including secretary Raminder Kaur, along with Munish Sood, Prabodh Anand, Nivedita, Nitish, Anuradha Sood and Jaspal Singh, who played an active role throughout the event.
