A cloudburst in Pangi Valley on Monday afternoon caused devastating floods in Udeen and Hillu streams, severely impacting local life. The sudden surge of water blocked the connecting route between Udeen and Hillu villages, while heavy debris accumulated on several stretches of the road.
During the incident, workers of “VB–G RAM G” engaged in Udeen village were trapped by the floodwaters. Acting swiftly, local residents launched a rescue operation and successfully evacuated all workers to safety, averting a major tragedy.
The cloudburst also triggered heavy flooding in Hillu stream, damaging a temporary bridge and cutting off access between the two villages.
Upon receiving information, the Pangi administration immediately initiated relief and rescue efforts. The Naib Tehsildar reached the site to assess the situation and evaluate the extent of damage. Meanwhile, Public Works Department (PWD) teams are working on a war footing to clear debris and restore the blocked road.
Authorities have appealed to residents to stay away from rivers, streams, and landslide-prone areas until weather conditions stabilize, and to promptly inform the administration in case of emergencies.
