Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania assured displaced families and business owners affected by the Kangra Airport expansion project that the Himachal Pradesh government is fully committed to providing fair compensation.
Speaking at Radha Krishna Temple in Gaggal, Pathania met with shopkeepers, small-scale entrepreneurs, and residents impacted by the project. He emphasized that while the state government is extending all possible support, the central government also has a responsibility to ensure that its citizens receive just compensation.
Pathania highlighted that the Congress-led Himachal government is the first to announce compensation even for those without land titles. He praised Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for his empathetic approach, recalling Sukhu’s promise that “no displaced person will be left in tears.” Recently, the Chief Minister announced a compensation package of ₹16.8 crore for traders operating on government land in Gaggal Bazaar, along with relief measures for families residing on government property.
Pathania assured the gathering that he would continue to represent their concerns before the state government and work to secure maximum relief. The meeting was attended by SDM Kangra Anjali Garg, SDM Shahpur Ganesh Thakur, local panchayat members, and community representatives.
