The weather in Himachal Pradesh is set to change once again as a fresh western disturbance is expected to become active.
The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in the lower hilly regions and snowfall in the mid and higher altitudes on January 11 and 12. However, the weather is expected to remain clear in most parts of the state on January 10.
Foggy conditions persist in lower areas
On January 9, dense fog enveloped the lower areas of the state, including Bilaspur and Mandi, while Sundernagar experienced light fog. The Met Department has forecast similar foggy conditions in isolated locations across the lower regions on January 10.
Kukumseri records coldest temperature
The Spiti Valley’s Kukumseri and Tabo were the coldest places in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday (January 9, 2025), with the minimum temperature plunging to -11.3°C. Meanwhile, Tabo recorded a maximum temperature of 7.9°C.
Una experiences sharp temperature contrast
Una, on the other hand, recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 23°C on January 9. However, its minimum temperature dipped to -0.5°C, resulting in a significant day-night temperature variation. Residents of Una are enduring freezing cold mornings and evenings, with relief only coming after the sun rises.
The Met Department has further predicted clear weather across Himachal Pradesh from January 13 to 15, offering some respite after the brief spell of rain and snowfall.
