Chamba to Get 25 Smart Computer Labs Worth ₹2.50 Crore on Harsh Mahajan’s Recommendation

In a major boost to digital education, 25 government schools across Chamba district will soon be equipped with state‑of‑the‑art smart computer labs. The initiative, recommended by Rajya Sabha MP Harsh Mahajan, comes as part of the Modi government’s focus on aspirational districts. The project, worth ₹2.50 crore, will be implemented through Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) under a signed MoU.

Mahajan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri for supporting the project, calling it “an investment in the future of Chamba’s children.” He emphasized that modern digital facilities will help bridge the gap between students in remote hill areas and those in urban centers.

Key Highlights

  • 25 schools selected across five blocks:
    • Chamba: GSSS Karian, Chaned, Sillaghrat, Khajjiar, Kohlari, Kolka
    • Churah: GSSS Bairagarh, Bonderi, Chanju, Jassourgarh, Thalli, Rajnagar
    • Bharmaur: GSSS Mehla, Guwan, Holi, Sunara, Laylh
    • Dalhousie: GSSS Grangar, Manjir, Sundla, Himgiri
    • Bhatiyat: GSSS Tundi, Hobar, Samote, Raipur
  • Each lab will feature modern computers, furniture, and e‑learning resources.
  • Thousands of students in rural and remote areas will directly benefit.
  • The project aims to ensure equal access to digital education for hill children.
