MANDI: The elections for Hockey Himachal concluded successfully in Hamirpur, with the entire executive committee being elected unanimously.
Ranbir Singh Nikka, BJP MLA from Nurpur in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, has been chosen president of Hockey Himachal while Dr Rajesh Sharma will be the senior vice-president.
Raja Singh Malhotra, a veteran hockey administrator from Mandi, has been elected as one of the four vice-presidents. Malhotra, who has dedicated years to the sport’s administration, previously served as the treasurer of Hockey Himachal for eight years, ensuring financial transparency and growth.

His appointment is seen as a major boost for hockey development in Himachal Pradesh, given his experience and commitment.
Hamirpur MP and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur is among the executive members. Following is the complete list of the new committee members:

Raja Singh Malhotra’s vision for hockey in Himachal
After his election, Raja Singh Malhotra expressed his gratitude to the office-bearers and members of Hockey Himachal, as well as former Union Minister Anurag Thakur, for their support. He emphasised his commitment to expanding the reach of hockey across all districts of Himachal Pradesh.
“Our goal is to make hockey accessible to every aspiring player in Himachal. We will work towards providing better infrastructure, training facilities, and opportunities for young players,” Malhotra stated.
Having served as president of the Mandi District Hockey Association, Malhotra has been instrumental in promoting the sport at the grassroots level. His leadership is expected to bring progressive changes to the association.
Following his victory, Malhotra visited former Chief Minister Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal at his residence in Samirpur to seek his blessings. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the sport in Himachal Pradesh, and his experience is expected to benefit the hockey community significantly.
