1,100 cops to be on toes as Dharamshala hosts President Murmu,

With Dharamshala bracing to host President Droupadi Murmu as the chief guest at the Central University’s convocation ceremony, an IPL match and a significant Satsang gathering over the next few days, over 1,100 police personnel are being mobilised to ensure the safety of all attendees.

A comprehensive security plan involving more than 30 gazetted police officers, including officers of DSP, Additional SP and SP ranks, has been put in place to manage the influx of visitors and the high-profile events. Dharamshala has been divided into six sectors for effective traffic management, with each sector strategically allocated for specific purposes.

The Bhavarna police station has been tasked with managing the traffic plan for the Satsang programme in Paraur, scheduled for May 4th and 5th. Thousands are expected to attend this event, necessitating meticulous traffic management measures. Trains bound for Dharamshala will be rerouted via Nagari to accommodate the increased influx of visitors.

Simultaneously, preparations are underway for the IPL match scheduled for May 5, featuring teams Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The teams are slated to arrive in Dharamshala on May 2nd and 3rd, adding to the security challenges already posed by the other events.

President Murmu is scheduled to attend the convocation ceremony at Central University on May 6, further adding to the security requirements. The ongoing elections have strained security resources, with some personnel deployed elsewhere. To compensate, additional security measures, including the deployment of drone cameras and CCTV surveillance, will be implemented.

In addition to security arrangements, traffic management plans have been meticulously devised. VVIP parking will be designated at the football field near the HPCA Stadium, while other vehicles will have access to parking lots across the city, including Police Ground Dharamshala, Dadi, Zorawar Stadium and Bypass Road.
