Himachal Dev Sena Delegation Assures Full Support

In a significant step towards tackling the growing menace of chitta (synthetic drug abuse), newly elected Mayor of the Mandi Municipal Corporation Suman Thakur has called for a united campaign involving the administration, social organisations and citizens to safeguard the younger generation from narcotics.
The appeal came during a courtesy meeting with a delegation of the Himachal Dev Sena, led by its founder Manish Vats, president Teja Thakur, District Mandi Mahila Shakti president Sarita Handa, along with other office-bearers and members of the organisation. The delegation congratulated the Mayor on assuming office and discussed key civic and social issues, with particular emphasis on the alarming rise in drug abuse among youth.
Addressing the delegation, Mayor Suman Thakur said the fight against chitta cannot be won by the administration alone and requires active participation from every section of society. She announced that the Municipal Corporation would soon initiate a comprehensive anti-drug awareness campaign in partnership with social organisations, youth clubs, Mahila Mandals, educational institutions, voluntary groups and concerned citizens.
“The future of our youth is at stake. We must unite beyond political and social differences to eradicate the drug menace from our society,” she said, urging community organisations to become active stakeholders in the campaign.
Welcoming the initiative, Himachal Dev Sena extended its full support to the proposed campaign. The delegation said the organisation would actively participate in awareness drives, community outreach programmes, and campaigns in schools and colleges to educate young people about the devastating consequences of drug addiction.
The delegation stressed that a coordinated effort by the Municipal Corporation, law enforcement agencies, educational institutions and civil society could transform the anti-drug initiative into a strong public movement capable of curbing the spread of chitta in the region.
Reaffirming its commitment to public welfare, the Himachal Dev Sena said it would continue to support initiatives aimed at social reform, youth empowerment and community development, while working closely with the Municipal Corporation to make Mandi a safer and drug-free city.
