Himachal Pradesh BJP president Dr Rajiv Bindal has expressed strong condemnation over the recent rape and brutal murder of a female PG doctor at a Kolkata hospital, stating that the entire nation is ashamed and outraged by the incident. He emphasised that the country will no longer tolerate such heinous crimes, especially when they occur in a state led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Dr Bindal criticised the West Bengal government for its handling of the case, accusing CM Mamata Banerjee of delaying the handover of the investigation to the CBI.

He suggested that the state government is more focused on protecting the perpetrators than ensuring justice for the victim, highlighting a pattern of alleged negligence and inaction in such cases under Banerjee’s leadership.
Bindal also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of remaining silent on the issue despite his previous vocal stance on similar incidents in other parts of the country.
He questioned why Rahul, who had actively protested in cases like Hathras, has not spoken out against the continuous atrocities against women under the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal.
ormer BJP state president and Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap also joined the criticism, questioning the delay in transferring the case to the CBI. He argued that it should have taken CM Banerjee just “70 seconds” to initiate the handover, but instead she requested seven days — a delay that Kashyap interpreted as a sign of the government’s frustration and insensitivity.

Kashyap drew parallels between the TMC’s actions in West Bengal and the Samajwadi Party’s approach in Uttar Pradesh, suggesting that both parties exhibit a dangerous mentality of protecting criminals while neglecting the safety and dignity of women. He called on Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to clarify whether their political alliances prioritise the protection of criminals over justice for victims.
Himachal BJP chief spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal has described Mamata’s attitude as both “absurd and hypocritical”. Jamwal criticised Banerjee’s decision to protest against her own government, calling it an act of irony and questioning her commitment to women’s safety.
Highlighting Banerjee’s dual roles as Chief Minister and Home Minister, Jamwal argued that she is directly responsible for ensuring law and order in West Bengal. He urged Banerjee to either take decisive action to restore safety and justice or step down if she is unable to fulfill her responsibilities.
Jamwal concluded by stressing that this is a time for action, not drama, and that Banerjee’s resignation would be the first step toward a fair investigation and justice for the victim.
