District-Level NCORD Meeting in Nurpur Focuses on Building a Drug-Free Society

In line with the directives of the Himachal Pradesh Government, a district-level review meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was held today at the conference hall of the Superintendent of Police’s office in Police District Nurpur. The meeting was chaired by the Superintendent of Police, Nurpur, and attended by senior officials from the police, administration, health, education, excise department, and de-addiction centers, both in person and via video conferencing.

Key Highlights of the Meeting:

  • Monitoring of Sensitive Panchayats: 22 highly sensitive panchayats have been identified. All SDMs were directed to strictly monitor Narcotics Control Committee (NNC) meetings and verify member participation.
  • Field Supervision: So far, 64 NNC meetings have been conducted across the district. To strengthen grassroots efforts, SDMs and SDPOs were instructed to personally attend these meetings.
  • Youth Awareness Campaigns: Educational institutions continue to host lectures and poster-making competitions to spread awareness among students. All updates are to be shared on the NCORD group.
  • Forest Department Action: The Forest Department was directed to identify and destroy naturally grown cannabis plants. Any individual found cultivating cannabis illegally for commercial purposes will face strict legal action.
  • Drug-Free Campus Initiative: Institutions were instructed to enhance security around campuses. If any drug or tobacco-related activity is found within 100 meters of a government institution, immediate police action will be taken against offenders.

The Superintendent also informed that, as per decisions taken in the state-level NCORD meeting, a special “Anti-Chitta Drive” will be conducted across Himachal Pradesh from June 1 to August 15, 2026. This campaign will involve intensified ground-level action against narcotics.

Police District Nurpur reaffirmed its commitment to the state’s vision of a drug-free society and emphasized coordinated efforts across departments to achieve this goal.
