The BJP in Mandi district will launch a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life as Chief Minister and Prime Minister, with the party planning a series of service and outreach programmes across the district.
Addressing a district-level workshop organised ahead of the campaign, former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur said Modi’s 25-year journey in public life represented a commitment to nation-building, governance and public welfare.
Thakur said the campaign should not remain confined to party programmes but should become a broader exercise in public outreach and service. He asked BJP workers to reach every booth and engage with people from different sections of society while highlighting what he described as the major initiatives and achievements of the Modi government.
“BJP’s strength lies in its workers,” Thakur said, urging party functionaries to take the message of Modi’s 25 years of public service to the grassroots and make the campaign visible at the booth, mandal and assembly constituency levels.
He said initiatives such as Jan Dhan, Ujjwala, Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas, Swachh Bharat and Digital India had sought to place the poor, farmers, women, youth and economically weaker sections at the centre of the government’s policy framework.
Thakur also pointed to the expansion of road, rail and air connectivity and other infrastructure under the Modi government, saying these developments reflected the changing economic and physical landscape of the country.
He further linked the campaign with the BJP’s broader political messaging on ‘Viksit Bharat’, saying the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047 should be transformed into a people’s movement.
Focus on service activities
BJP district in-charge and former minister Suresh Bhardwaj said the campaign would include a range of programmes designed to combine public outreach with community service.
According to Bhardwaj, activities planned during the month include ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’, ‘25 Crore Bachchon Ke Sapnon Ka Bharat’, ‘Namo Shiv Gatha’, ‘Aangan Ka Utsav’, ‘Kahani Badlav Ki’, ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ and ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra’.
Under the ‘Seva—Mera Yogdan’ initiative, BJP workers will organise blood donation and health camps, cleanliness drives and tree plantation programmes, besides undertaking service activities at old-age homes and orphanages. Educational assistance and de-addiction-related initiatives will also form part of the campaign.
The workshop was chaired by BJP Mandi district president Nihal Chand Sharma.
Balh MLA Inder Singh Gandhi, Drang MLA Puran Thakur, district co-in-charge Bhim Sen, state spokespersons Ajay Rana and Ajay Thakur, state secretary Priyanta, media in-charge Rakesh, along with mandal presidents and other party functionaries, attended the workshop.
