DAV Public School Bankhandi Students Honoured Under Deendayal SPARSH Yojana

Bankhandi (Dehra): The Deendayal SPARSH Yojana, launched by the Department of Posts, Government of India, aims to promote philately as a meaningful hobby among school students while nurturing academic curiosity and cultural awareness. The scheme offers scholarships to deserving students who show both scholastic merit and an interest in stamp collection, encouraging them to engage with India’s rich historical and communication legacy.

In a recently held ceremony at DAV Public School, Bankhandi, 23 meritorious students were awarded scholarships of ₹6,000 each under this initiative. The awards were presented by Shri Raj Kumar, Inspector of Posts, Dehra Sub-Division, and senior postal official Shri Aditya Kumar. The presence of parents added to the emotional and motivational significance of the event.

Students were selected based on their academic performance and interest in philately, in line with the scheme’s objectives to foster learning through creative and cultural pursuits. The recognition of these students under a national programme was celebrated as a proud achievement for the school and the wider community.

School Principal Subhash Sharma congratulated the awardees and attributed their success to dedicated efforts by students, consistent guidance from teachers, and support from parents. He also thanked the Department of Posts for continuing to invest in the all-round development of young learners.

Teachers emphasized the long-term impact of such honours, noting that they encourage students to explore new areas of interest beyond the standard curriculum. The honoured students expressed their appreciation and shared how the recognition had boosted their self-confidence and broadened their outlook.

Though the ceremony has concluded, the impact of the Deendayal SPARSH Yojana continues to be felt across the school. Inspired by their peers, many students are now showing renewed interest in philately and related areas of study. The initiative remains an excellent example of how national programmes can shape future-ready citizens by blending hobbies with education.
