Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, on Wednesday after undergoing angioplasty on August 17.

Nadda himself announced his discharge in a post on his verified social-media page, saying he had been “successfully discharged” from AIIMS after the angioplasty and was “healthy and doing well”.

“Heartfelt thanks” were extended by Nadda to the doctors and staff at AIIMS for their care and dedication. He also thanked his well-wishers for their prayers, calls and messages during his hospitalisation, saying their support meant a great deal to him.

Nadda was admitted to AIIMS on August 13 after experiencing uneasiness. He underwent several medical tests the same evening, including a coronary angiography, and was subsequently kept under observation in the Department of Cardiology. His condition was reported to be stable.

The Union Minister underwent angioplasty on August 17 and remained under the supervision of the cardiology team thereafter. The hospital said he had a comfortable stay and expressed gratitude to the doctors, nurses and other staff for the care provided to him. His condition remained stable following the procedure.

During his hospitalisation, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also visited AIIMS and met Nadda. Sukhu later left the hospital after meeting the Union Health Minister.

Nadda’s discharge comes after nearly a week of hospitalisation and medical supervision. His own post following his discharge indicates that he has recovered well after the procedure and is in good health.

A senior BJP leader with strong political roots in Himachal Pradesh, Nadda is currently serving as the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister. His recovery is likely to bring relief to party workers and supporters in Himachal Pradesh and across the country.
