Shimla: Hundreds of workers, both from Saheb Society and outsourced employees, gathered at Kali Bar Hall in Shimla for a massive convention on the 16th of February strike. The convention saw the presence of prominent figures, including State President Sito, Vice President Jagat Ram, Treasurer Balak Ram, Union President Jaswant Singh, General Secretary Om Prakash Garg, Treasurer Naresh, Advisor Pala Ram Mattu, and many others.

Addressing the gathering, State President Sito, Vice President Jagat Ram, Treasurer Balak Ram, Union President Jaswant Singh, and General Secretary Om Prakash Garg urged the workers to make the strike on February 16 a resounding success. They expressed concerns over the Modi government’s anti-worker policies and called for unity among the workers to protect their rights.
Concerns Raised Over Privatization Attempts
The leaders voiced their concerns over potential privatization or outsourcing of Saheb Society’s functions, warning of widespread protests and a complete shutdown of activities in Shimla city if such attempts were made. They questioned the municipal administration’s actions against Saheb Bay Loz and accused them of scheming to outsource the society’s work.
Demand for Financial Fairness
The leaders demanded regular employment for Saheb workers and cited various legal precedents and court orders to support their claims. They emphasized that the municipality should prioritize the welfare of workers, pay additional wages for extra work, and adhere to the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission.
Allegations of Financial Exploitation
Accusing Saheb of financial and mental exploitation, the leaders highlighted the withholding of wages for dozens of supervisors and outsourced workers each month. Despite the Labor Commissioner’s directive to pay these wages, the municipal commissioner is allegedly issuing notices against supervisors, creating an atmosphere of harassment.
Appeal for Support and Unity
The leaders called for support from all Saheb workers and supervisors, urging them to participate wholeheartedly in the strike.
