Families residing on government land in Gaggal village, impacted by the Kangra Airport expansion project, held a press conference at the Panchayat Bhawan along with Deputy Pradhan Ravindra Baba and other panchayat members. During the interaction, the affected families expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for the government’s decision to provide compensation for structures along with relief and rehabilitation benefits.
The families stated that this step by the state government is commendable, as the provision of relief and rehabilitation compensation will greatly assist them in rebuilding their lives after displacement. Without such support, they noted, the future would have been extremely challenging.
The press conference was attended by Deputy Pradhan Ravindra Baba, former Pradhan Bhagat Ram Kohli, former Pradhan Devraj, former Deputy Pradhan Monu Kapoor, panchayat members, and a large number of affected residents.
Ravindra Baba highlighted that the outcome was possible due to the persistent efforts of Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania and Nishu Mongra, District and State OBC Congress President of APMC. He said both leaders consistently raised the demands of the affected families before the state government, ensuring their voices were heard.
The families expressed hope that the government’s decision will be implemented swiftly, so that those displaced by the airport expansion receive timely relief and rehabilitation support.
