Chamba
In a bid to curb the rising menace of chitta and other narcotic substances, the Chamba Municipal Council convened an important meeting today under the chairmanship of Bhuwaneshwari Gulati, President of the Municipal Council.
The meeting focused on the growing drug problem in the town, with special emphasis on taking effective measures against synthetic drugs like chitta, protecting youth from addiction, and raising public awareness about the harmful effects of narcotics.
Council President Bhuwaneshwari Gulati stated that drug abuse is becoming a serious challenge for society and requires collective efforts from the administration, police, municipal council, social organizations, and the general public. She stressed that enforcement alone cannot solve the issue; continuous awareness campaigns and engaging youth in positive activities are equally essential.
Discussions also highlighted the need to monitor drug‑related activities in different areas of the town and to promptly inform concerned departments about any suspicious incidents. The council emphasized launching awareness drives to educate both youth and parents about the dangers of drug abuse.
The Municipal Council appealed to citizens to cooperate with the administration and police in the fight against narcotics. Residents were urged to immediately report any information about drug sales or suspicious activities to authorities for timely action.
The meeting concluded with a strong message that collective participation is vital for a drug‑free Chamba, and the council reaffirmed its commitment to continue awareness and prevention efforts in the future.
