Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, inaugurated the three-day Under-19 Girls’ Sports Competition today at Government Senior Secondary School, Thulel, under the Bhatiyat zone. He unfurled the flag and took the salute of the march-past presented by participating athletes, formally opening the event.
Extending his best wishes, Pathania emphasized that alongside academics, diverse extracurricular activities play a crucial role in shaping personality and ensuring a bright future. He urged students and youth to actively participate in sports, highlighting their importance for leadership development, physical fitness, and mental well-being.
Reaffirming his commitment to the overall development of the Bhatiyat constituency, Pathania noted that the road density in the region has reached 99.01 percent, making it one of the most connected areas in Chamba district. He also assured parity in diet money for players of primary and higher education categories, promising to raise the matter with the Chief Minister and Education Minister for a fair resolution.
Pathania announced that Government Senior Secondary School, Thulel, has been upgraded as a Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding School, with ₹1 crore allocated as a token budget to strengthen infrastructure. He added that an ultra-modern building and all necessary facilities under the Day-Boarding scheme will be ensured in the coming years. Additionally, he declared ₹50,000 for the establishment of a gym within the school premises.
On the occasion, the Speaker was felicitated with a shawl, cap, and memento by the Deputy Director of School Education and the Sports Organizing Committee.
The event was attended by Chairman of the State Haj Committee Dildar Ali Batt, State Forest Corporation Director Board Member Chela Krishan Chand, Zila Parishad Member Kusum Lata, SDM (Civil) Manish Soni, DSP Mayank Sharma, Deputy Director of School Education Vikas Mahajan, Tehsildar Surender Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer Dr. Kuldeep Jamwal, BDO Anil Gurada, Executive Engineers Rakesh Thakur and Narendra Chaudhary, along with representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions and other dignitaries.
