SDM Kangra Dr. Anjali Garg convened a meeting with officials from various departments to address the growing traffic issues in Kangra town. During the meeting, a detailed action plan was prepared, with clear instructions to the police department to take strict action against violations of traffic rules.
Dr. Garg informed that the Municipal Council has been directed to immediately remove encroachments over drains and conduct surprise inspections twice a month. Shopkeepers found guilty of encroachment will face challans to ensure pedestrians are not inconvenienced. She also announced that she herself will conduct a surprise inspection of Kangra market in the coming days.
The SDM instructed concerned officials to complete the construction of the bridge over Riyund Khad by September so that the four-lane road can be fully operational, easing traffic congestion in Kangra. She further directed that patchwork from Samela to Kangra bypass be started soon and roadside drains be properly covered.
The sewerage department was ordered to expedite ongoing works in Kangra. Ahead of the upcoming Shravan Ashtami fair, Dr. Garg directed Kangra police to enforce traffic rules strictly and take firm action against violations. She also issued legal orders to penalize unauthorized parking in main markets and other locations.
