In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Nurpur Police achieved success under its “Zero Tolerance” policy. Effective prosecution in court led to the conviction of a habitual offender under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Indora, today sentenced Sanjeev Kumar alias Prince, son of Ashok Kumar and resident of Ward No. 3, Damtal, Tehsil Indora, District Kangra, to one year of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000. In default of payment, additional imprisonment will be imposed.
Case Background
In 2016, Sanjeev Kumar was arrested by Indora Police with 3.90 grams of heroin (“chitta”). A thorough investigation was conducted, and strong evidence was presented before the court.
Court Verdict
On March 5, 2026, the court found him guilty based on the evidence and witness testimonies.
Habitual Offender
Sanjeev Kumar has a criminal history with 13 FIRs registered against him in Damtal and Indora areas, including theft, assault, illicit liquor trade, and NDPS violations.
This conviction sends a strong message to drug traffickers operating in the region.
