A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate alleged benami land transactions and suspicious property deals around Gaggal Airport in Kangra district and Gagret in Una district. The team will be headed by DIG Soumya Sambashivan.

- Inspector Kamlesh – Member (Dharamshala Cyber Crime Unit)
Focus of the Investigation
- Land acquisition and transfer cases around Gaggal Airport and Gagret.
- Examination of whether transactions bypassed legal provisions under Section 118 of the Himachal Pradesh Tenancy and Land Reforms Act, 1972.
- Scrutiny of suspected benami ownership and irregular land purchases linked to development projects.
Timeline and Reporting
- The SIT has been directed to complete its investigation within three months.
- Weekly progress reports must be submitted to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Based on findings, recommendations for legal, criminal, or administrative action will be made.
Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari emphasized that the move aims to uphold transparency, ensure compliance with law, and maintain public trust.
