Heavy Snowfall Alert in Himachal Pradesh; Next Six Hours Critical

Orange Alert Issued for Several Districts, Adverse Weather Likely Till January 28

Heavy snowfall continues to affect the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, with the Meteorological Centre Shimla issuing a fresh warning for the next six hours. According to the department, there is a strong likelihood of heavy snowfall at several places in Chamba, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul and Spiti, Shimla and Sirmaur districts during this period.

Orange Alert in Key Districts

The Meteorological Centre has issued an Orange Alert for heavy snowfall in Kullu, Sirmaur, Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti districts. Authorities have been cautioned about possible disruption to road connectivity, power supply and communication services, particularly in higher and remote areas.

Yellow Alert for Rain and Hailstorm Elsewhere

Other districts of the state are under a Yellow Alert for rain and hailstorm, while strong winds are also expected at several locations, likely to intensify cold conditions and cause localized damage.

Weather to Remain Unsettled Till January 28

The weather department has forecast that adverse weather conditions may persist across many parts of Himachal Pradesh till January 28.
• January 24 and 25: Light to moderate rain and snowfall likely in some higher-altitude areas.
• January 26 to 28: Another spell of widespread rain and snowfall is expected across the state.

Advisory Issued

The Meteorological Department has advised residents, tourists and local authorities to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel in snowbound areas, and follow official weather advisories closely.
