On January 20, 2026, Akshay Kumar (33) of Ward No. 7, Nyazpur, Nurpur, and his friend Sajan Mehra visited the SBI ATM at Nyazpur when they noticed that an elderly man had withdrawn cash and left the machine. Shortly after, ₹10,000 was ejected from the ATM. The duo searched for the elderly man but could not find him.
Without any delay, they immediately reported the incident to Nurpur Police Station and informed the authorities that they had ₹10,000 in their possession. The police promptly initiated an inquiry and sent a team to SBI Nurpur to identify the elderly man.
After investigation, the elderly person was identified as Ashok Kumar (63), son of Kehar Chand, resident of Bhali village, Tehsil Jawali, District Kangra. On January 22, 2026, the police successfully returned the ₹10,000 to him.
The Nurpur Police praised Akshay Kumar and Sajan Mehra for demonstrating honesty and responsible citizenship. Their act has set a remarkable example for society and highlighted the importance of integrity.
